Royal Enfield Classic 500 is the big brother of the Classic 350 and is unfortunately discontinued with the implementation of the BS6 emission norms in India. Now, Classic 500 will be available in the second-hand bike market only. The last of the Classic 500 was sold in March 2020 with BS4 engine. The company decided not to upgrade the 500cc bikes in its portfolio as the sales went too low after the launch of 650cc twins. It was only the fans of the Classic 500 who bought the bike even after the affordable Interceptor 650.
Classic 500 was powered by an air-cooled 499cc single cylinder engine with a 2-valve head. This motor pumped out 27.2 bhp at 5250 rpm and maximum torque of 41.3 Nm that peaked at 4000 rpm. The torque figure was more than sufficient to take the Classic 500 to any type of terrain. The engine was mated to a 5-speed gearbox via a multi-plate clutch. It was the only Classic motorcycle which came with electronic fuel injection system before the advent of BS6 emission norms.

Contrary to the fact that Bajaj Pulsar 220F has low engine and parts reliability, the bike offers surprising resale value for its name. Not only this, the bike is very popular among youngsters for its explosive power delivery and high price to performance ratio. Pulsar 220F is the first sports bike of many Indian motorcycle riders. The bike is now discontinued as better and more advanced Pulsar F250 has taken its place.
The BS6 version of the Pulsar 220F get its propulsion power from the same decade old 220cc engine with is potent enough to tackle some engines with latest technologies. The 2-valve engine with twin spark technology delivers 20.11 bhp at 8500 rpm and 18.55 Nm twisting force at 7000 rpm.
These numbers are lower than the BS4 variant and the performance does seem lower when compared to the older bike. This oil-cooled engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox which is on the taller side and goes up to a speedo indicated top whack of 145 kmph.
Before the BS6 upgrade, the Pulsar 220F had a higher peak torque of 19.12 Nm which is now reduced to 18.5 Nm comparable to the Pulsar NS200. KTM Duke 200 is an expensive street bike from the Austrian manufacturer, at least for the customers who are searching for bike sin regular 150cc segment. A regular 150 or 160cc bike will cost anywhere between Rs 1.2 lakh to Rs 1.4 lakh on-road after the BS6 upgrade. What would you do if you are offered a used KTM Duke 200 in the exact same price range? You will definitely want to buy one if you are okay with the low fuel efficiency of the Duke 200.

Despite a price tag of Rs 2.96 lakh ex-showroom, the Duke 390 is far away from the hands of many. Duke 390 is powered by a 373.2cc, liquid-cooled, single cylinder engine with a 4-valve head and DOHC setup. This motor generates massive 42.9 bhp at 9000 rpm and rock bending 37 Nm torque at 7000 rpm and is paired to a 6-speed gearbox. Performance-wise, the 390 does 0-100 kmph in under 6 seconds and goes up to a top speed of more than 165 kmph.
These numbers are for BS6 Duke 390 while you will be getting a BS4 version of the bike in the second-hand bike market. Expect a price range of Rs 1.8 lakh to Rs 2 lakh for the used KTM Duke 390 in good condition. Also the old Duke 390 will offer slightly better performance due to BS4 engine. Complete maniac machine is the BS3 Duke 390 which was not easy to control by mediocre riders.
The suspension on the 390 is tuned towards the stiffer side to provide excellent handling and cornering ability. There are grippy Metzeler tyres which hold the road under all circumstances and provide the highest level of confidence to any rider out there. Stopping power is ensured by a large 320 mm and 230 mm disc at the front and the rear with dual-channel ABS.
The most exciting part of the bike is that you get a full coloured TFT display unit which shows all kind of data related to the motorcycle. For the Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by turn navigation from Google, you have to purchase a smartphone app from the app market.
