Aerox has the styling of a maxi touring scooter along with the handling of a sports bike like R15. After many years in the international market, Yamaha decided to launch the scooter in India at an aggressive price tag which was then received well by Indian customers.
Yamaha Aerox 155 is priced from Rs 1.40 lakh ex-showroom for the standard colour and for extra Rs 2,000, you can get yourself the MotoGP edition of the sports scooter. Apart from MotoGP edition, the Aerox is available in Racing Blue, Grey Vermilion and Metallic Black colours.

There is no footboard as fuel tank is fitted under the main spine with foot boards for each foot are placed on the either sides. The rider seat is huge but same cannot be said for the pillion seat as it is quite small.
Powering Yamaha Aerox 155 is a liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, 155cc, 4-valve, fuel-injected engine that churns out max power of 14.79 bhp at 8000 rpm and 13.9 Nm torque at 6000 rpm. The power is sent to the rear wheel via a variomatic gearbox. It is the only scooter to come with liquid-cooled engine under Rs 2 lakh.

Speaking about the fuel efficiency, the scooter can deliver well over 45 kmpl in the city rides when throttle is controlled. However, while utilising its power, the mileage drops to below 40 kmpl. With mileage on the lower side, expect the scooter to return around 250 km of riding range from a single tankful.
The instrument cluster is a fully digital unit offering almost all the information that a regular rider needs. There is a speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, odometer, trip meters, instantaneous and average fuel consumption as well as VVA indicator. With FZ 25, you can easily get fuel efficiency of 40 kmpl in mixed riding conditions. In the city, you can expect around 38 kmpl while on the highways; the mileage can increase to around 42 kmpl. With a 14-litre fuel tank capacity, you can cover nearly 500 km from a single tankful of petrol. The usable capacity is 13 litres.
On the dashboard, you’ll find a small fully-digital instrument cluster which offers a range of information. This setup is well-calibrated for city riding conditions and absorbs all kinds of shocks pretty easily and doesn’t unsettle the rider. When this suspension setup is coupled with wide and well-padded seats and an upright riding posture, the pleasure of riding on the FZ25 is class apart. It is powered by same 155cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, single cylinder engine with a 4-valve head. This powerplant is good enough to churn out 18.37 bhp of max power at 10,000 rpm and a peak torque of 14.1 Nm at 8,500 rpm. A 6-speed transmission is present to turn the rear wheel with charm. The top-most 6th gear is an overdrive gear ratio leading to a high-top speed and relaxed highway ride.
You can clock a 0 to 100 kmph in about 12 seconds and the top speed of the fully-faired bike is around 155 kmph on the speedometer. With all this power and performance, the bike returns a fuel economy of around 40 km per litre. A full tank range of the bike is around 440 km with an 11-litre fuel tank capacity.
Speaking about the ergonomics, you get a low positioned clip-on handlebar and a slightly raised seat height of 810 mm. This leads to a committed riding position and superior control. Worry not, the seat is narrow and therefor it is suitable for short riders as well. However, R15 is not meant to highway rides and committed riding posture can lead to arms, shoulder and back pains.
The fully-digital instrument is similar to the one we have seen on the R15 V3.0 and offers great details. The suspension system is handled by telescopic fork at the front and linked-type monoshock at the rear for superior handling and ride dynamics. Due to stiffer setup, the ride might become harsh on broken roads or unpaved stretches.

Apart from this, the powertrain, suspension setup and the braking system, all are similar to the one you can see on the Yamaha R15 V4. Cyan Blue, Ice Fluo Vermilion, Metallic Black, Racing Blue and MotoGP Edition.
It comes with short reach handlebar position and a small fuel tank. The rider’s seat is spacious while same cannot be said about the pillion seat. It is solely made to take on the city roads as the reduction is too high which makes it a torque monster for a 155cc bike.
Powering the MT-15 V2 is a liquid-cooled, 155cc, 4-stroke, single cylinder, fuel-injected engine with a 4-valve DOHC head with VVA technology. It belts out 18.23 bhp at 10,000 rpm and 13.9 Nm torque at 8500 rpm. There is a 6-speed gearbox paired with the engine via a wet multi-plate clutch.
Yamaha MT-15 return a mileage of around 40 kmpl in mixed riding conditions and the fuel economy remains more or less similar to this number even on the highways due to short gear ratios. A 10-litre fuel tank can provide a range of up to 400 km in a single tankful.
The instrument cluster on the MT-15 is directly lifted from the one that is equipped on the R15 V3. It is a fully-digital instrument panel with oodles of information to deal with. You get speedometer, tachometer, odometer, twin trip meters, gear position indicator, fuel gauge, real-time fuel efficiency, average fuel efficiency and distance to empty feature. The headlight is an LED projector unit with LED DRLs enhancing the futuristic look of the bike.
The suspension on the MT-15 is comprised of a golden USD fork at the front and adjustable monoshock suspension at the rear. This setup is tuned towards a stiffer side which makes the ride hard and stiff over the bad section of roads. While on the good quality roads, the bike offers excellent handling characteristics.
Yamaha MT-15 is brought to a halt by 282 mm and 220 mm disc brake unit at the front and the rear respectively. Extra safety net is offered by single-channel ABS. With wide and grippy tyres onboard, MT-15 is a hoot to ride in the streets of urban jungle.

Finally, we came to the most expensive 150cc bike in our list of best 150cc bikes in India. Yamaha R15 was first launched in India in 2008 to overthrow the Bajaj Pulsar 180 and 220. However, in due course of time, R15 attracted a special breed of riders who love to scratch their knees around the corners. It was the most expensive and highly advanced motorcycle to the Indian riders back then.
R15 V4 comes with a host of latest technologies and features such as Variable Valve Actuation technology (VVA) which is usually seen on the 1000cc race bikes and high-end performance cars. Yamaha R15 V4 is available in many paint schemes which are exclusive to it – Metallic Red, Dark Knight, Racing Blue, Metallic Grey, Anniversary Edition and MotoGP Edition.
For upgrading to the BS6 emission norms, more restrictions became mandatory and bike lost power. A 155cc, liquid-cooled, fuel injected, single cylinder engine with a 4-valve head powers the Yamaha R15 V4.
You can clock a 0 to 100 kmph in about 12 seconds and the top speed of the fully-faired bike is around 145 kmph on the speedometer.
Wait, there are many riders who have successfully completed long journeys on the R15 and we salute them.
The fully-digital instrument cluster now gets Bluetooth connectivity feature which allows a rider’s mobile phone notifications to appear on the meter console. The suspension is golden USD fork at the front and linked-type monoshock at the rear for superior handling and ride dynamics. You might feel the suspension a bit punishing on the bad patch of roads.
If you are the one who seek an optimum powerful track machine at affordable price tag, Yamaha R15 V4 is the answer.
