Activa brand has its own identity in Indian two-wheeler market. To derive maximum sales from the brand, Honda did a clever thing by launching Activa 125. The 125cc version is like a full fledged variant of the Activa scooter in India. The features that are lacking in the 110cc model, the Activa 125 ticks all the right boxes.

The BS6 fuel-injected engine delivers a real-world fuel economy of about 40-45 km per litre of petrol. It is needed due to high petrol price which will continue to increase in the future.
Activa 125 BS6 was launched last year as an update to the BS4 version. Honda Dio is among those few scooters that have fixed headlights on the front cowl rather than on the handlebar. It is another scooter from Honda sales of which are respectable. Being light than Activa at 105 kg (Activa weigh at 107 kg) and extra torque, the performance of Dio is a bit peppier than the Activa.
The BS6 version of the Dio is well equipped with telescopic fork suspension at the front providing a sporty and confident ride dynamics. In the deluxe variant you’ll get LED headlights, a fully digital instrument cluster that will give you all the necessary information including average fuel efficiency and service due indicator. You can choose to equip your Dio with side-stand down engine inhibitor for additional safety. The standard variant is pretty basic with halogen headlamp, analogue instrument cluster and black steel wheels.
With the new chassis, the front wheel size has been increased to 12 inch from the previous 10-inch unit seen in the BS4 version. Rear wheel continues to be 10 incher like all other scooters from Honda. Welcome, another Honda in the guide of best scooters in India. Honda Grazia is also a 125cc scooter but it is quite different than the Activa 125 as the latter is targeted towards commuters and the Grazia is offered for those need something to flaunt with sporty stance. The BS6 upgrade for the Grazia saw some design changes to the front and the rear of the scooter making it sharper than before. There is an external fuel filler cap which is opened remotely with the help of ignition key.
Pearl Nightstar Black, Matte Axis Grey Metallic, Repsol, Mat Marvel Blue Metallic and Sports Red are the colours available on the Grazia.
Speaking about the engine, the 125cc unit is same that works in Activa 125 and is blessed with Honda’s PGM-Fi fuel injection system. The 2-valve, fan-cooled engine churns out 8.27 bhp at 6000 rpm and 10.3 Nm twisting force at 5000 rpm. Performance wise, the Grazia is a free spirit with about 3 kg less weigh to drag and peak power coming in at 500 rpm earlier when compared to the Activa 125. Despite a larger engine, the fuel economy of Grazia is nearly close to that of 110cc scooters at 42 to 43 kmpl on an average day.
Honda Grazia is a feature rich scooter as it offers LED headlights positioned on the front apron instead of the handlebar cowl, front disc brake, fully-digital twin-pod instrument cluster which offers tachometer, trip meters, average fuel efficiency, instantaneous fuel efficiency as well as range. An engine kill/start switch in integrated with the ignition button. The under-seat storage and ground clearance is 16 mm more than the previous BS4 version.
The scooter is suspended on telescopic forks at the front and shock absorber at the rear with hydraulic damper. The ride quality of Grazia is great for daily rides and it manages pot holes and broken roads with ease. The braking system is taken care of by disc brake at the front and drum brake at the rear. Hero MotoCorp is India’s number one two-wheeler company but mostly due to selling motorcycles. The company also sells scooters but not seen much success in the scooter market. Hero Pleasure+ was updated by the company to BS6 emission norms without adding any other significant feature to lure customers.

Powering the BS6 Hero Pleasure+ is a 110cc single cylinder engine which is fed by a programmed fuel injection system. The engine develops 8.1 bhp and 8.7 Nm torque which are similar to the BS4 version. Main changes are done at the fuelling and exhaust department to make engine BS6 compliant. At one place where all the BS6 scooters are slower than their BS4 counterparts, Hero says that new BS6 upgrade of the Pleasure+ is quicker off the line than the BS4 version. The acceleration is claimed to be faster by 10%.
Speaking about the design, the scooter looks like a retro machine but not completely as nothing apart from headlight makes it a retro scooter. The instrument cluster is basic with just speedometer, odometer and a fuel gauge. Targeted at the beginners and young girls, the scooter is offered in seven shades to suit most girls out there. In terms of added convenience, Hero fitted USB charger and a LED under-seat light. Apart from these features, there is nothing on offer. The Pleasure+ comes with steel wheels and drum brakes in the base variant while a disc brake variant is also available for those seeking better braking performance.

Hero Destini 125 Xtec is marketed as a family focused 125cc scooter in India and it actually is family focused scooter with practical features. With sales dropping down to about 13000 units per month from 25000 units sometimes last year, the company looks to market the Destini more aggressively. With the BS6 upgrade the scooter gets some important updates such as digital-analogue instrument cluster and fuel injection.
Hero Destini Xtec is available in these colour options – Nexus Blue, Matte Black, Pearl Silver White, Nobel Red, Panther Black, Chestnut Brown and Matte Ray Silver.
Powering the Hero Destini Xtec is the same 125cc engine albeit delivering more power and torque than the BS4 version unlike rest of the competitors which saw a decline in the numbers. The fuel-injected BS6 compliant motor now pumps out 9 bhp at 7000 rpm and 10.4 Nm torque at 5000 rpm which is more than the 8.8 bhp and 10.2 Nm in the BS4 version. We expect a better outright performance due to slight increase in the torque. The Delhi based company also claiming that Destini 125 BS6 returns 11% more fuel economy which is a welcome statement.
Speaking about the features, the LX based variant of Destini comes with steel wheels and optional mobile charger and Under-seat lamp. The top VX variant gets alloy wheels, dual-texture seats, chrome garnishes and standard mobile charger and under-seat lamp. Hero decided to avoid offering disc brake in the Destini keeping price and positioning in mind. If you are looking for a disc brake version, you better go for Hero Maestro Edge 125.

Coming to the features list, the Maestro Edge 110 gets a analogue-digital instrument cluster which looks premium with service reminder feature and side stand indicator. An under-seat lamp, mobile charging socket, and external fuel filler cap for enhanced convenience. The scooter gets telescopic forks at front providing you better ride and handling. Hero calls it Xsens technology specially developed for Maestro series of scooters for better ride and fuel economy.
Hero Maestro Edge 125 comes with digital-analogue instrument cluster showcasing all the important information about the scooter. Hero’s trademark i3S technology is also available which shuts the engine while idling and restarts on the slight twist of throttle. This helps in saving fuel which you’d rather waste on the red lights.
The top variant of the Maestro Edge comes with a fully digital instrument cluster with also have Bluetooth connectivity. Any rider can connect his/her smartphone with the meter console and access call and SMS notifications along with turn-by-turn GPS navigation.

TVS Scooty Pep+ is powered by a rather small 87.8 cc single cylinder engine with 2-valve head. This little petrol motor develops 5 bhp at 6500 rpm and 5.8 Nm torque at 4000 rpm. The performance of the Scooty pep+ remains on the slowest side with top speed around 60 to 65 kmph. Fuel is supplied to the engine by electronic fuel injection system which delivers better throttle response and fuel economy other than keeping the emission under control.
TVS Scooty Pep+ is one such scooter in this list which does not offer any special feature to its customers to keep the price as low as possible. The headlamp is a halogen unit and the instrument cluster is basic too offering just a speedometer, odometer and a fuel gauge. On top of that, you can own this excellent package at an affordable price point. TVS has crafted the Ntorq in a manner which doesn’t show the back door to features and practicality. The scooter is packet with features not seen even in the higher scooter segment.

With a hike of 2 kg kerb weight, we don’t think the performance of the scooter has been affected much. Certain tests revealed that new Access 125 is quicker than the Activa 125 in a drag race.
Suzuki has added many features while upgrading it to BS6 emission norms. The instrument cluster gets a small digital display for odometer, trip meter, battery voltage and service due indicator. Headlights are LED units as Suzuki decided to move away from the Halogen bulbs for the sake of premium appeal. The base variants get steel wheels and drum brakes while the premium variant comes fitted with stylish alloy wheels and disc brake for better braking power. Along with these features, you also get Eco assist light. These lights help you check your throttle input by showing green to blue colour lights.
